Back in December of last year, I took my girlfriend, Emily, out for a private dinner for her birthday. We’d been dating for 7 years at that point, and it was only a matter of time before I had enough money saved up for an engagement ring. I proposed at dinner, but because I was still in the process of applying to medical schools, we couldn’t really start to make plans for the big day. Now that I’m nearing the end of my first year at school, and we have a better idea of where we’re going to be next year, we can start planning the wedding for Memorial Day weekend of 2010.
