I find that I push myself just a bit harder when I run if I’m not listening to the ‘Couch to 5K’ podcast series. If I’m listening to the podcast, small goals are usually about running for 60, 90, 120 seconds, etc. If I’m listening to my own music, small goals are about finishing the current song while running, which can be up to an extra 2 or 3 minutes. Today, just to see if I could, I skipped the 5 minute warm-up and just ran for a mile straight. It wasn’t as hard as I expected, but it made all subsequent running that much harder when my left shin started acting up again.

Notes
I like that these Wii Fit updates are motivating me to keep active on this blog, but I think they’re crowding up the real/editorial posts. I may switch to Wii Fit on weekdays and editorial posts over the weekend. That way I can work on articles throughout the week during my spare time.
